CANIVERM tbl. is used in the treatment of parasitic diseases caused by both roundworms and slivers. Fenbendazole is a broad spectrum anthelmintic from the benzimidazoles group and is effective against nematodes, lung helminths, some  strip and cestode varieties. When taken by parasites, fenbendazole exerts its effect by blocking the polymerization of the structural tubulin protein in nerve axons, thereby affecting the transport ability of the parasite's absorptive cells. Fenbendazole is effective against both adult and juvenile forms of susceptible helminths. Fenbendazole is absorbed slowly from the gastrointestinal tract and reaches its highest concentration in plasma according to the administered dose: 24 hours at a dose of 5 mg/kg, and within a few hours at a dose of 100-150 mg/kg. Excretion of fenbendazole and its metabolites is primarily in the faeces, with only 10% excreted in the urine.

pyrantel pamoateis a tetrahydropyrimidine derivative. It is a broad spectrum anthelmintic. It is effective in the treatment of parasitic diseases caused by Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum. It acts as an antagonist on cholinergic nicotinic receptors in ganglia and causes spastic neuromuscular paralysis in parasites. Pyrantel pamoate acts in the intestine against both adult and juvenile forms of susceptible helminths, but is not effective against intra-tissue migration phases. It has no vermicidal or ovicidal effect. Pyrantel pamoate is absorbed slowly from the gastrointestinal tract, reaching peak concentration in plasma in 1-3 hours. Almost half of the administered dose is excreted in the faeces unchanged and less than 15% is excreted in unchanged form or as urinary metabolites.

Praziquantelis a synthetic isoquinoline-pyrazine derivative. It shows its specific spectrum of action with its effectiveness in the treatment of schistosoma infections, it is also active against liver trematode and slivers. It has no effect against Fasciola hepatica and hydatidosis. Praziquantel increases the calcium ion permeability of cell membranes, which causes the parasite's muscles to contract. It inhibits depolarization of neuromuscular cholinesterase, causing muscle paralysis. It also kills the parasite by causing vacuolization and degradation of the body surface. Praziquantel shows activity against both adult and juvenile helminths on schistosomiatic infections of animals. Praziquantel is rapidly absorbed and has a bioavailability of around 80% after oral administration. After administration of the therapeutic dose, it reaches its peak concentration in serum unchanged in 1-3 hours. Praziquantel concentrations in the cerebrospinal fluid constitute 14-20% of the values observed in plasma. The concentration in bile is up to three times higher than in venous blood. In the first pass, most of the drug is rapidly metabolized by the liver to inactive mono- and poly-hydroxyl products. The plasma half-life of praziquantel is 1-1.5 hours, while the half-life of its predominant metabolites is 4-6 hours. Excretion occurs predominantly via the kidneys in the form of metabolites. 70% of the administered dose is excreted within 24 hours and 80% within 4 days.

The combination of fenbendazole and pyrantel pamoate carries a strong synergistic effect. While pyrantel pamoate is 75% effective and fenbendazole 45% effective, the combination of the two substances reaches more than 90% efficacy. The combination of the three substances in the preparation provides a means to combat a wider spectrum of parasites..

Roundworms and stripes in dogs, cats, and other canine and feline animals (Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Trichuris vulpis, Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Dipylidiocapsoides, Multilocularis, Dipylidiocepsoides, Mesopotamia sp. sp.) is used as an anthelmintic in the treatment of parasitic diseases.

It is used orally. Tablets can be given separately or wrapped in food. The dose should be given in one go without dividing. In zoos, circuses etc. It is recommended to give crushed tablets according to the weight of the animal in the meatballs for canine and feline animals found in the meat. These meatballs should be placed in the cage before the morning meal in proportion to the number of animals in the cage.

Puppies, small dogs and cats:

1 tablet per 0.5-2 kg body weight

  For 2-5 kg body weight  2 tablets

Medium dogs and carnivores : 

 5-10 kg  for live weight  4 tablets

The preparation is contraindicated in ocular cysticercosis, spinal neurocysticercosis and hepatic failure.

Use in pregnancy:There is no harm in using it in pregnant animals at recommended doses . In pregnant animals  dosing should be done correctly and a veterinarian should be consulted for possible side effects.
